C.S. Lewis was an English Literature scholar at Oxford University and spent much of his life there (as did his good friend J.R.R. Tolkien). Along St. Mary's Passage, leading to the Radcliffe Camera, one of Oxford's landmark buildings and part of the Bodleian Library where Lewis would have spent much of his time, there is a faun carved under the lintel of a doorway, right next to an old lamp post.Oxford is full of such enchantments.
