A silkscreen print by Jon Mackay, based on a view at Grange-over-Sands, on the edge of the Lake District, looking over the bay towards Morecambe and Lancaster. Large areas of intense colour, loosely rendered, recall the work of Mark Rothko and Sir Howard Hodgkin, both of whom Jon cites as influences.
Jon says: "I did a very quick pencil sketch while I was exhibiting at Printfest in Ulverston. It was an overcast but warm day but I was excited for the future and feeling slightly in awe of exhibiting with so many other amazing printmakers, and I wanted to try and convey that through my use of colour, texture and marks."
The Golden Hour is a seven-colour silkscreen print on 285gsm Fabriano Rosaspina paper.
Price: £195 (unframed)
