An intricately patterned, handcrafted dish created with layers of coloured stoneware clay.
The colours and forms Emily includes in her collections are inspired by water, sky and her local landscape. She uses the grounding quality of clay to explore ideas of flow, balance and connection to nature. Circles often feature in her work as a symbol of continuity and the cycle of seasons and nature.
Each dish is handmade in Emily’s garden studio in East Oxford using Nerikomi, a traditional Japanese technique of layering coloured clay to create patterns within the body of the piece. They are fired twice and glazed with a clear glaze.
Every piece is completely unique. By their nature they may reveal small differences which are all part of their handmade character.
Approx. dimensions: 11 cm
