Jon, please tell us why your silk screen print, 'No Plans', is a favourite...
No Plans always feels quite calming to me which I enjoy a lot - not like the rest of my life! The title comes from the idea of having a day just wandering about and not being super busy!
How did you come to make it?
The print is based on a view at the edge of Cornbury Park in Charlbury. I love the trees in the park. I've walked my dogs past these trees, walked past them on my way back from Wilderness festival and I love how the sun sets behind them. I had a bit of time a year or so ago so I thought I'd sketch them and then the print developed from there. What I like is that I know there are people in China, Australia and Singapore with the print on their wall, which I love!
What approach did you take to making it?
I made some sketches first of all and I tried the print out I a number of different ways before I settled on this one. There are other versions but this one is my favourite!
How have other people responded to it? Have there been any comments that have particularly stuck with you?
I was at a music festival selling my prints - I won't say where! - and I had a couple very interested in buying it on the first day of the festival, but they said they would come back. They did come back on the Sunday and said they loved it but had wanted to see how it felt once they had taken a certain mind-altering substance, which by that point they had done. They then came and just stood and looked at it for a long while, and then bought it! That was a bit of a crazy moment.
